The new Unisen LCDs are the first premium flat panel TV with a 16-speaker Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround sound system designed right into the television - uniting superior picture with superior sound.

How does it work? The secret behind this impressive package is Mitsubishi's innovative Integrated Sound Projector (iSP). The iSP eliminates the need for separate audio components to provide a clutter-free home theater system. In environments where a full blown surround sound system isn't practical or if running wires and placing speakers are not easily accommodated, the iSP provides a surround sound experience that cannot be matched.

The iSP reproduces Dolby® Digital 5.1 channel surround sound from a single speaker cabinet positioned below the TV screen. Through the use of an advanced algorithm, the iSP delays the sound at varying intervals to each of the 16 speakers.

As a result, the speaker array generates 5.1 distinct sound beams that are focused directly and indirectly to the listener (see diagram below). The subwoofer or LFE channel is also available as an output of the TV for easy connection to an external powered subwoofer. The iSP utilizes walls or other surfaces to reflect the left, right and surround sound beams to you. The effect of this sound beam reflection is that the side and back walls of the room become virtual speakers for the complete surround sound reproduction.

The new TVs even include a sound projector microphone that automatically calibrates your sound system regardless of room shape. In a matter of minutes, specific room dimensions as well as the location of the main listening area are easily entered. The iSP calculates the beam angles to provide the best sound for your room environment. The performance doesn't stop there.
