We hope this newsletter finds you & your family well. Westchester Audio Video Design is extremely proud to introduce our first Company Newsletter to you!! We hope to keep you up to date on all of the latest information about Westchester AV Design, as well as exciting new products , services, technologies & exclusive company promotions we are offering. We also have provided some helpful web links on the current HD channel lineups for Cablevision, DirecTV, & Verion FiOS TV service providers. In addition, a link has been included for the latest Blu Ray Disc movie releases.

Introduction & Company News

"What a long, strange trip it's been"! Since our humble beginning in 1996, we have consistantly changed & re-invented ourselves to become one of the premier designers and installers of state-of-the-art Home Entertainment Systems throughout NY and the US. It's now been a little more than 1 year since Westchester Audio Video Design had changed location from our original retail store in Rye to offices in Harrison, NY. By eliminating the retail end of our business, we have been able to change our business model to focus on providing a level of customer service currently not available in the tri-state area.

Integration Control Systems:

Control systems allow you to manage all of your separate sub-systems and system devices with a central control processor. For instance, rather than having an area on the wall cluttered with light switches, a volume control, a thermostat, and a security alarm keypad you can have a single touch screen device which will operate all those seperate systems. In addition, the integration control system can be programmed to automate a sequence of control commands with a single button press from a remote control device which helps to make operating a complex system simple enough for everyone.

Lighting Control Systems:

Did you know that a lighting control system is a great way to conserve energy? A lighting control system simplifies and automates the lighting functions in your home, and at the same time, can provide $$$ in savings. Just by setting the lights at 90%(10% dimming), you can double the life of the bulb! The other aspect is that dimming the lights saves roughly the same amount of electricity as the percentage the lights are dimmed. A central processor controls the dimming and switching of the lights, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, and motorized shades to automate the comfort and lighting levels. Touch screens and keypads replace switches to set lighting 'scenes' in your home.

In case of a fire, Lighting control systems work wonders!In a home, smoke reflects the lights like fog causes glare from a cars headlights. Having pathways & regular lights illuminated at 50% can help show you & your family a safe way out, even if it's filled with smoke!

Motorized Window Treatments:

Motorized Window Treatments automate the control

of natural light into your home. A central processor

can lower shades at certain times of the day to

provide privacy, help regulate the temperature, or

protect your furniture and artwork from harmful UV

rays. Curtains and shades can be automatically opened

and closed from touch panels or keypads anywhere in

your home. Having this feature allows you to conserve

energy as well by the temperature regulation.

Climate Control Systems:

Climate control systems automate the heating and cooling and can help regulate the humidity in your home. A central processor can be programmed to raise or lower temperature at certain times of day to save energy and maximize comfort. Temperature and humidity can be monitored and adjusted from touch screens, digital thermostats, or from your computer via the internet.

Data Network Systems:

Data Network Systems are the devices which manage and protect your computers and internet devices. A central router and switch control the distribution of the internet to your wall jacks and wireless access points while keeping your computer devices running fast and safe.

Surveillance Camera Systems:

Surveillance camera systems provide views of your property from strategically placed cameras which can be monitored on TVs, video touch screens, even from your computer via the internet. Cameras with pan, tilt, and zoom features can be installed to maximize the viewing area available to you. Cameras can provide views even in very low light conditions. The camera views can be digitally recorded and stored on computer hard drives. Cameras can augment the security system by triggering alarms and starting the recorders when they sense motion in the viewing area.

Telephone / Intercom Systems:

Advanced Telephone systems provide a wide array of easy to use features & solutions for home use, that conventional old telephones can't compete with. A central processor controls the routing of calls to system phones throughout the house. You can use the system as an intercom to talk to or page other family members in your home. You can order multiple lines from your phone service provider so members of your family can have their own phone number and calls will only ring on their phone. View and log caller ID information from system phones as well as access personal voicemail easily.

Project of the Month - Creating Solutions

This client presented us with an unusual request for this project. Besides installing a Crestron Home Automation system for control of all Audio Video distribution, Lighting & Shade Control, they wanted a top quality A/V surround sound system in their main entertainment space. The Problem? The room has 3 seperate options for sitting areas - two at opposite ends of the room & one in the center. How can 1 system automatically create 3 surround sound environments?? Our team came up with the perfect solution!

We installed a 50" Plasma TV on a special articulating arm with the front left, center, and right speakers installed right below the TV. This allowed the TV & front speakers to adjust to whatever viewing location is prefered. The next step was the surround speaker set up. By installing multiple in ceiling speakers & multiple subwoofers in all areas & re-routing the rear channels through the main controller automatically, the clients are able to enjoy perfect 5.1 surround sound wherever they are. It just takes one push of the button!!
