Why we specify Lutron for motorized shades

Entry-level motorized shades are now everywhere, and choosing between them is harder than it was. We keep specifying Lutron, and the reasons are specific rather than brand loyalty.
Range comes first, because the right answer differs by room. Wired or wireless, roller shades or something else, and how you intend to control them are all questions worth settling before anything is ordered rather than after.
Protection is the argument people have not usually thought of. UV fades rugs, fabric and artwork, and on artwork it eventually cracks. In rooms with things worth protecting, a fabric with a low openness factor cuts what gets through, and photo sensors can close shades automatically when the sun comes round to that elevation.
On appearance, the Sivoia and Palladiom lines cover roller shades through to drapes and blinds, and there are four Design Collections running to more than 1,500 fabrics, with colour matching so the shade answers to the room rather than fighting it.
Control scales with the range. Serena works with mobile apps and Pico remotes; Sivoia and Palladiom add dedicated touchpads and a keypad line in a spread of finishes, so a scene can move every shade in the house at once.
Two engineering details are the actual reason we specify them. Intelligent Hembar Alignment keeps every shade within an eighth of an inch of the others as they travel and when they stop, which is the difference between a wall of windows looking deliberate and looking untidy. And the drive units are genuinely quiet, which only matters in a theatre, a bedroom or a nursery, where it matters completely.

The consultation is complimentary and it starts with a walkthrough or a set of drawings. You will leave it knowing what is realistic in your house, what it costs, and what can wait until phase two.
