Power & Energy · Westchester & Fairfield County

When the power goes out, the house keeps going.

Storms here take trees down, and trees here take lines down. A house with storage decides for itself what stays on and for how long.

What a home battery actually changes.

Most outages in this part of the county are short. The ones that matter are not. A line down after a storm can mean two or three days, and in that time the things that actually hurt are not the lights: it is the heat, the well pump, the sump pump, the refrigerator and the internet connection that everyone now needs in order to work. A whole-house generator handles that and we have nothing against them, but it needs fuel, servicing and a place to live, and it runs the whole panel whether you need it to or not.

Storage works differently. The battery holds a charge and the system decides, circuit by circuit, what to keep alive when the grid drops. You choose those circuits in advance: heat, water, the network, the kitchen, a couple of rooms. Everything else stays off, which is what makes the stored power last. Storm Watch tops the batteries up when bad weather is forecast, so the house is full before the lights flicker rather than after.

The part that saves real money is at the panel. Savant Power Modules distribute power intelligently, which means a house can usually take on an EV charger, a hot tub or a new wing without paying for a service upgrade, and without the separate critical-load panel a generator would otherwise need. On older houses in Armonk, Bedford and Rye that is frequently the difference between a project that pencils and one that does not.

The rest of the year it just runs. If there are solar panels the system uses them first, holds the surplus in the battery and pulls from the grid only when it has to. Circuits you are not using switch themselves off while the house is empty. And because it is Savant, it is in the same app as the lighting, the shades and the climate, so it is not one more system with one more login. You can see, to the circuit, where the house is spending power.

We are a Savant Platinum Elite dealer, which is Savant's top tier and is held by a small number of integrators, and our owner sits on the Savant Advisory Council. On an energy system that matters more than it does on a music system: the storage, the power modules and the circuit-level control are commissioned rather than simply installed, and getting the circuit priorities right is the difference between a battery that carries the house for a night and one that is flat by ten o'clock.

Where it does not fit, we will say so. A small house with a short outage history and no solar does not need this, and a generator is the cheaper answer for a property that has to run a large load continuously for days. The honest test is what you are protecting and for how long.

See it in action

Twenty-six seconds, no narration.

Savant's own film for the Power system. It is the clearest short explanation of what storage, circuit control and monitoring look like working together in a house.

At a glance

Through an outage.

When the grid drops the house decides what matters. Stored power routes to the circuits you chose in advance, heat, water, the network, a few rooms, and stretches to last. Storm Watch tops the batteries up when weather is forecast, so the house is full before the lights flicker rather than after.

Every day.

Eco Mode runs the house on solar first, holds the surplus in storage and draws from the grid only when it has to. Circuits nobody is using switch themselves off while the house is empty. Over a year that is a quieter bill, without anyone having to police the thermostat.

Without the rebuild.

Savant Power Modules distribute power intelligently at the panel, so a house can usually take an EV charger, a hot tub or a new wing without a service upgrade, and without the separate critical-load panel a generator would otherwise need.

What you can see.

Revenue-grade monitoring, circuit by circuit, live in the same Savant app that runs the lights, the shades and the climate. Not a separate portal with a separate login. One interface, the whole house.

The car, handled.

The Savant Level 2 charger is part of the system rather than a thing bolted to the wall beside it. Charge on solar or an off-peak rate, throttle it to fit what the rest of the house is doing, and keep the car ready. Most EVs, and Tesla with the adapter Savant supplies.

The hardware

What actually gets installed

Savant Power energy storage units mounted in a utility space

Storage, sized to the house

The battery lives wherever the house has room for it: a utility space, a garage, a basement wall. Capacity is scalable, so it is specified against the circuits you have chosen to protect rather than sold as a fixed box.

The car, on the same system

A Level 2 charger that talks to the rest of the house, so the car charges on solar or off-peak and steps back when the house needs the capacity elsewhere.

Common questions

What people ask us about power & energy.

How long will it run the house?
That depends entirely on which circuits you choose to keep alive, which is the whole point of the design conversation. Heat, water, the network and a fridge is a very different load from air conditioning and a pool pump. We size the battery against the list you actually care about, not against the whole panel, and we will tell you honestly what a given number of hours costs.
Is this instead of a generator, or as well as one?
It can be either. Storage carries the house silently and instantly and needs nothing delivered, which suits most outages here. A generator runs indefinitely as long as it has fuel, which suits a property that has to carry a heavy load for days. They also work together, with the battery covering the switchover and the generator taking over on a long outage. We are not attached to either answer.
Do we need solar for this to make sense?
No. Without solar the battery is about resilience: it charges from the grid, cheaply and overnight where the rate allows, and it is there when the line comes down. Solar changes it from a backup system into an energy system, and the two together are where the running cost actually moves.
Will we need a bigger electrical service?
Usually not, and avoiding that is one of the better reasons to do it. The power modules manage load intelligently at the panel rather than assuming everything runs at once, so a house can often add significant new loads on the service it already has. We check this early, because the answer changes the budget.
Does it work with the EV charger?
Yes, and it should. The Savant Level 2 charger is part of the same system, so the car can charge from solar or on an off-peak rate, and its draw can be throttled to fit what the rest of the house is doing rather than competing with it. It works with most EVs, and with Tesla using the adapter Savant supplies.
What are the specifications?
Each unit pairs a 12.5 kW inverter with 20 kWh of storage, and up to ten of them stack, so a system runs from 20 to 200 kWh. It backs up services from 200A to 800A, and the warranty is ten years. Those are the headline figures; the one that actually decides your design is which circuits you want carried and for how long, and that is a conversation rather than a number.

Afterwards

Looked after by the people who installed it.

Our own crew does the work, so the number you call afterwards is the same one you called at the start. Equipment carries its manufacturer's warranty and we handle those claims rather than handing you a phone number. A service plan adds monitoring, next-business-day response and scheduled visits on top.
