Motorized Shading · Westchester & Fairfield County
Shades that move so nobody has to.
Raising one shade is easy. Raising fourteen, twice a day, across a wall of glass, is a chore nobody keeps up with.
Shades that handle themselves.
Unlike most dealers, we install and program shades with our own people rather than subcontracting the hard part. We are certified by Lutron and by J. Geiger, the shade maker now owned by Savant, which gives us a wide range of fabrics, hardware and control to work from, and we specify from your designer's book rather than a catalog of our own.
Afternoon sun is not only uncomfortable, it is expensive. Uncontrolled light fades rugs, art and furniture and pushes the air conditioning harder than it should work. Shades on a schedule handle the west elevation before the room turns hot, and they close at dusk without anyone reaching for anything.
Details are settled on paper first: openness factor, hem alignment across a run of windows, fascia or a recessed pocket set with the framer, and motors chosen for how little you hear them.
How we work
- 01
Measure
Every opening, with the trim, the depth of the reveal and the direction of the sun. A shade that is fitted after the fact is a compromise; one that is planned is invisible.
- 02
Choose, with your designer
Fabric, openness, colour and the hardware finish from the designer's book, not a catalogue of our own. Samples in the room, in the light they will live in.
- 03
Pocket or fascia
If the walls are open, the pocket goes in with the framer and the shade disappears into the ceiling. If not, a fascia in the finish of the room.
- 04
Install and program
Our own people, on the day, with the schedule set before we leave. Sun position, dusk, away mode, and the keypad engraved to match.
- 05
Adjust
A month in, we come back and tune the limits and the schedule to how you actually live. It is on us, not on you.

Shades and light
Shades are half of a lighting plan.
A room is lit by the window as much as by the fixtures. Shades on a schedule and lighting on a keypad belong on one system, and in a Savant house they share it with the climate, so the room is never hot and never dark.
- One keypad for shades and lights
- West glass handled before the room heats
- Climate that reacts to the sun with the shades
- All inside Savant, with the music and the rest
Your house
Wondering what motorized shading would look like, and cost, in your house?
Tell us about the room or the whole house and we will come and look. The calculator gives a planning range before you talk to anyone.
At a glance
Certified by Lutron and J. Geiger
Both, installed and programmed by our own crew. The fabric from your designer's book, the hardware chosen for how little you hear it.
On the sun, not the clock
Shades move to where the sun actually is, so the west glass closes before the room heats and opens again when the light has passed.
The headrail you look at
Brushed metal, no visible wire, no visible screw, or hidden entirely in a pocket set with the framer.
Hem to hem
A run of six windows with the hems on one line. It is the detail people notice without knowing what they are noticing.
Roller, Roman, drapery
Sheer to blackout, Roman shades, drapery track for the rooms that want fabric. Exterior shading where the glass is large.
Lights and shades together
The Dinner scene lowers the blinds while it dims the pendants. One keypad, and nothing for a guest to work out.
With Savant
The shade, the headrail, and the fabric.

The room
Shades that filter a wall of glass without losing the view. Set to the sun, so the room is never hot and never dark, and nobody touches a switch.

The headrail
Brushed aluminium, no visible wire, no visible screw. It is the part you look at every day, so it is the part that has to be right.

The fabric
From sheer to room-darkening, in the neutrals designers actually specify. We choose from your designer's book, not a catalogue of our own.
Common questions
What people ask us about motorized shading.
- Why motorize shades at all?
- Because nobody keeps up with fourteen of them twice a day. Motorized shades move on a schedule or a scene, so a wall of glass manages its own glare and heat without anyone walking the room.
- Can shades be fitted to an existing house?
- Yes. Battery-powered shades need no new wiring and are the usual answer in a finished house. Hard-wired shades are quieter and never need charging, which is why we specify them whenever the walls are open.
- How long do the batteries last?
- Typically a year or more depending on how often they move and how large they are. Charging is straightforward, and clients on a service plan generally have us do it during a scheduled visit.
- Can we match fabrics to what the designer has specified?
- Yes, and that conversation should happen early. We work alongside interior designers regularly and order from the same fabric books they are already working from.
- Will they work with the lighting?
- They should. Shades, lights and the screen belong on the same scenes, so one press takes a room from bright and social to dark and cinematic. Putting shades on their own separate app is the mistake we most often get called in to undo.
- What is covered if a motor fails?
- Shade motors carry the manufacturer's warranty and we handle those claims ourselves. The installation is ours, so if something we did is the problem we come back and put it right.
“Westchester AV was the right choice for me. They exceeded expectations and I would use them again. Bob, the owner, wanted to make sure the job was done properly even though the work on my home took longer than expected. He kept sending his people until the job was done. I would highly recommend them!!”
Afterwards
Looked after by the people who installed it.
Our own crew does the work, so the number you call afterwards is the same one you called at the start. Equipment carries its manufacturer's warranty and we handle those claims rather than handing you a phone number. A service plan adds monitoring, next-business-day response and scheduled visits on top.
