Questions

Answers before the first phone call.

These are the questions we field most often, from homeowners planning a renovation and from the builders and designers who bring us in. If yours is not here, ask us directly. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.

When should we bring you into a project?

As early as you can, ideally while the plans are still being drawn. Wire is inexpensive before the walls close and expensive afterward. If the drywall is already up we can still do beautiful work, it simply takes more creativity and usually a little more money.

What does a system typically cost?

It depends far more on how much of the house you want to cover than on which brand goes in it. Music and lighting in a few rooms is a different conversation from a whole house with shading and a media room. We give you a real number after a walkthrough, broken out room by room, so you can see what happens now and what can wait, and we will tell you where spending more genuinely shows and where it does not.

Do we have to do everything at once?

No. Most of our clients phase the work. We prewire for the full plan while the house is open, then finish rooms as budget and timing allow. Nothing has to be torn out later to add the next piece.

Which brands do you work with?

Savant and Lutron sit at the center of most of our systems, with Sonance, Coastal Source, Sonos, Ubiquiti, Daikin and a short list of others around them. The list is on the Brands page, with the reason each name is on it. We choose the line that fits the house rather than the one we happen to stock.

What happens after the install?

You get a service plan to keep the system current, and a company that answers. Monitoring starts at $79 a month and catches most problems before you notice them.

Where do you work?

Westchester County, New York and Fairfield County, Connecticut. From our showroom in Armonk that covers Bedford, Chappaqua, Katonah, Scarsdale and Rye on one side, and Greenwich, New Canaan, Darien and Westport on the other. Staying close is deliberate: it is why a service call happens this week rather than next month.

Can you service a system somebody else installed?

Often, yes. We start with a paid assessment visit to document what is there and tell you honestly what can be kept, what should be replaced, and what it would cost to bring the house back to a reliable place.

Do you have a showroom?

We do, in Armonk, with CinemaTech seating on the floor you can sit in. It is the fastest way to understand what the finishes and the comfort are actually like.
