Old houses, long relationships.

Bedford is fifteen minutes from the showroom, and a good deal of our work here has been going on for a decade or more.

The houses in Bedford and Bedford Hills tend to be old, generously sized, and built out of materials that do not forgive careless work. Stone facades, slate roofs, plaster and lath, century-old millwork. Every one of those is a reason wire routing takes longer here and a reason it matters who does it.

Plaster and lath in particular swallow wireless signal, which is why Wi-Fi and networking is so often where a Bedford project actually starts. A house of this size and construction usually needs real access points placed against measurements rather than a guess, and it needs them before anything else is worth installing on top.

Properties here also run outward as well as inward. Pools, terraces, guest quarters and long driveways mean outdoor audio and landscape lighting get considerably more use than people expect when they are pricing them in February, and mean the network has to reach places a consumer router was never going to reach.

A fair amount of our Bedford work arrives through architects and builders we have known for twenty years, which puts us on site while the house is still framed. That is far and away the cheapest and least painful moment to make these decisions. When we are called into a finished house instead, retrofit routing and wireless lighting control get you a complete system without opening walls you have just restored.

What we hear most often from clients here is not about the technology at all. It is that we still answer the phone years later. That is the part we work hardest at.

We will come out and look. If you want a sense of budget before that, the calculator gives a planning range from what you are considering.

An easier first step

Come and sit in the seating before you decide anything.

The showroom is at 5 N Greenwich Rd in Armonk, with CinemaTech seating on the floor. Ten minutes in the chairs, handling the finishes, settles more than a swatch card will, and it costs nothing.

“We have been using them for many years. They are always polite, timely, creative and reasonable. Most importantly, they provide quality service. Highly recommended.”
Harvey K., Bedford, NY
“Westchester A/V installed our theater and entire home audio/video setup. It is a large and complicated installation and their work was professional. They have continued to meet all our needs over the five years we have been using them. I have continued to recommend them to friends and family.”

Common questions

Questions we get from Bedford homeowners.

Can you get Wi-Fi to reach the whole property?
Usually, but not with a router from the cable company. A house of this size, built of stone and plaster, with a pool and a guest building at the end of a driveway, needs access points placed against real measurements and wire run to everything that sits still. That survey is the first thing we do in Bedford, because nothing else works properly until it is right.
Will you damage the plaster or the millwork?
That is the question we take most seriously here, and the honest answer is that some routes are straightforward and some are not. We will walk the house and tell you which is which before you commit, including the rooms where our advice is to leave it alone and solve it another way.
How far out do you cover?
Bedford, Bedford Hills, Katonah, Pound Ridge and Mount Kisco are all a short drive from the Armonk showroom and all well within our normal territory.
We already have equipment. Does it have to go?
Not if it is good. If what you own is worth keeping, it stays and the money goes where it actually shows. We would rather tell you that than sell you a rack.
