Hills, old estates, and the river below.

Briarcliff Manor was laid out as an estate village and it still reads that way: big lots, stone and shingle houses from the early 1900s, and newer houses on the land that was carved off them.

The older houses are the interesting ones. Thick walls, formal rooms, and millwork that nobody wants touched. We get systems into them through the back stairs and the basement, with speakers that paint out and keypads that replace what is already on the wall. The result should look as if the house always had it.

The newer houses on the hills ask for the standard set done properly: a media room on the lower level, Wi-Fi that covers three floors and the garage, and shades on the west-facing glass that runs hot every afternoon from May to September.

Many properties here look out over the Hudson, and the terraces get used. Outdoor sound and landscape lighting that works with the view rather than against it is a regular request.

We are twenty minutes away in Armonk. For a system that someone else installed and nobody understands, that is close enough to come and look rather than guess.

We will come out and look. If you want a sense of budget before that, the calculator gives a planning range from what you are considering.

An easier first step

Come and sit in the seating before you decide anything.

The showroom is at 5 N Greenwich Rd in Armonk, with CinemaTech seating on the floor. Ten minutes in the chairs, handling the finishes, settles more than a swatch card will, and it costs nothing.

Common questions

Questions we get from Briarcliff Manor homeowners.

Can you work in an older Briarcliff estate house without visible wiring?
Yes. That is most of the skill. Wire travels through closets, the basement and the attic, speakers are the kind that paint out, and keypads sit where the switches were. Where something must show, we show you the options first.
The west side of the house is unbearable in the afternoon. Shades?
Motorized shades on a sun schedule handle the west elevation before the room heats up and open again when it passes. Fabric chosen with your designer, pockets set with the framer if the walls are open, and quiet motors.
How far is Armonk from Briarcliff?
About twenty minutes. Close enough for a service visit this week and for you to come and see the showroom before deciding.
