Village houses, done right.

Pleasantville is a village of 1920s colonials, Tudors and capes on tight lots, with a Usonian neighbourhood on the hill and a steady run of thoughtful renovations. It is fifteen minutes from the showroom.

A Pleasantville house is usually not large, and the job is to make it work harder. A family room screen that sounds right without a wall of equipment, music in the kitchen and on the porch, lighting that handles the evening on one button. None of it needs a renovation and all of it can be added to later.

The Usonia houses deserve a mention. Wright-influenced, with radiant slabs, built-in furniture and very little tolerance for anything added afterwards. Work there is slow and careful and mostly about what you cannot see. We like it.

Across the village, Wi-Fi is the common complaint. Plaster walls and small houses with equipment in the wrong corner. One or two properly placed access points, wired back to a real switch, and the problem is gone.

We also keep an eye on systems after they go in. For a Pleasantville house that usually means a service plan rather than a call when something fails, because we can fix most things from Armonk before you have noticed.

An easier first step

Come and sit in the seating before you decide anything.

The showroom is at 5 N Greenwich Rd in Armonk, with CinemaTech seating on the floor. Ten minutes in the chairs, handling the finishes, settles more than a swatch card will, and it costs nothing.

Common questions

Questions we get from Pleasantville homeowners.

Our house is small. Is this worth doing?
Yes. A smaller house benefits more from doing a few things well than a large one does from doing everything. Music in two rooms, lighting in the kitchen and family room, Wi-Fi that works upstairs. We would rather start there.
Can you work in a Usonia house?
Carefully, yes. Those houses were designed as whole objects and we treat them that way. Most of the work is in routing and placement, and in knowing which ideas to leave at the door.
Do you handle service after the installation?
We do, and we watch the system remotely on a plan so most faults are cleared before you notice. The showroom is fifteen minutes away for anything that needs a visit.
