Mamaroneck runs from the harbour and Orienta's waterfront houses up through the village to the hills, and the work follows the water: glass, light, salt and the view.
Waterfront houses here are built to look at the Sound, which means walls of glass that are glorious in October and unbearable in July. Motorized shades on a sun schedule are the single most-requested thing in Orienta, with fabrics that keep the view and lose the heat, and motors you cannot hear.
The village and the hills are 1920s colonials and Tudors on close lots, and the job there is retrofit without damage: lighting control at the existing switches, music in the rooms that get used, and Wi-Fi that reaches through plaster to the top floor.

- Brass and marine-grade only. We specify Coastal Source for speakers and landscape lighting near the water because it is built for salt. Anything else goes white and fails.
- Do you do smaller jobs in the village?
- Yes. Lighting in the kitchen and family room, music in two rooms, Wi-Fi that works upstairs. Most of our longer relationships in Mamaroneck started with one of those.
