Larchmont is Victorians and shingle houses in the Manor, 1920s colonials and Tudors in the village, and the water never far away. We have worked here since the company began in Rye, two towns up the shore.
The Manor houses are tall, old and beautifully built, and they defeat consumer equipment on principle. Three floors of plaster, a basement that floods, and a third-floor bedroom where the internet is a rumour. Wi-Fi and networking is almost always the first job, done with wired access points on each floor rather than hope.
After that, the requests are what you would expect of a family house near the water: music in the kitchen and on the porch, lighting that gets the ground floor ready for the evening on one button, and a media room in a lower level that has to be dried out and finished first.
Salt air shortens the life of anything outdoors. Outdoor speakers and landscape fixtures here have to be brass and marine-grade, not the painted aluminium that goes white in two seasons. We specify for the shore.
Larchmont is a longer drive from Armonk than our northern towns, about half an hour, and we are honest about that. It is still us who come, and on a service plan most things are fixed from the office before anyone drives anywhere.

- Why is the Wi-Fi hopeless on our third floor?
- Plaster, lath, three floors and a router in the basement. The answer is a wired access point on each floor, placed to measurements, not a bigger router. We do this in Larchmont houses constantly.
- What outdoor equipment survives near the water?
- Brass and marine-grade. Coastal Source outdoor speakers and landscape fixtures are built for exactly this and we specify them for every house within a mile of the Sound. Aluminium and painted steel do not last here.
- How far away are you?
- About thirty minutes, from Armonk. On a service plan we see most problems from the office and fix them without a visit. When a visit is needed, it is our own crew who come.
