The glass houses, the colonials, and the ones in between.
New Canaan has more important mid-century houses than any town its size in the country, alongside the colonials and the new construction on the old estates. Twenty minutes from the showroom across the state line.
The modern houses deserve to be said first. Glass walls, flat roofs, radiant slabs, and no tolerance for anything added afterwards. Work in them is slow and careful: shades that disappear into a ceiling pocket, speakers that are invisible or nearly so, lighting control that respects the original fixtures. We like this work and we are not in a hurry on it.
The colonials and the new houses off Oenoke Ridge and Ponus Ridge ask for the fuller set: a media room, music through the house and outdoors, a network that reaches the pool house, and a power plan for the storms that take the ridge down a few times a year.
New Canaan clients tend to have thought carefully about their house, and they want to understand what they are buying before they buy it. We will walk the house with you and explain the system in plain language, and we would rather do one floor properly than the whole house badly.

We will come out and look. If you want a sense of budget before that, the calculator gives a planning range from what you are considering.
An easier first step
Come and sit in the seating before you decide anything.
The showroom is at 5 N Greenwich Rd in Armonk, with CinemaTech seating on the floor. Ten minutes in the chairs, handling the finishes, settles more than a swatch card will, and it costs nothing.
Common questions
Questions we get from New Canaan homeowners.
- Can you work in a mid-century glass house without ruining it?
- Yes, and it is a particular skill. Shades in ceiling pockets, speakers that are invisible or painted out, keypads where the switches already were, and wire routed through the slab chases and the mechanical spaces the house already has. Where something must show, we show you the options first.
- We lose power on the ridge. What do you recommend?
- Battery storage sized to the circuits you care about, with the generator for longer outages. Savant Power manages the switch so the house carries on and the app shows what is running on what.
- How far is Armonk?
- About twenty minutes. Close enough for a visit this week and for you to come and see a system before deciding.

The consultation is complimentary and it starts with a walkthrough or a set of drawings. You will leave it knowing what is realistic in your house, what it costs, and what can wait until phase two.
